My name is Andy Kniffin.  I specialize in providing reputable yacht brokerage services in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for worldwide yachting and dedicate my services to select customers who have a passion for such. Many of my customers are hands-on yacht owners who prefer to be owner/operators, while others prefer crewed yachts.

All my customers benefit from my in-depth yachting industry knowledge, contacts and extensive resources. Most have become life-long friends. Almost all of my yacht broker clients are self-made entrepreneurs with a taste for adventure and know that the key to smooth sailing is expert guidance and resources. As a native born and raised in South Florida, I was a professional captain for over twenty years; delivering and operating yachts of all types throughout the North American coast and Caribbean, as well as film, salvage and celebrity work (read discretion and confidentiality skills).

Of particular interest was my position for three seasons as the boat fleet manager for the Miami Vice TV series (remember Elvis the alligator?) and seven years as personal captain to Mr. Julio Iglesias. Like every competent captain, I spent a great deal of time participating and directing countless yacht refits and repairs.

History

I began yacht brokering full-time around 23 years ago as a natural extension to my yachting career. Actually, I started with large yachts (100′ plus) and gradually began to focus on the mid-sized used yachts for sale. Since then, I have accumulated a variety of experience handling all types of brokerage yacht sales and new yacht sales. I have expert knowledge of all types of motor yachts (large, mid-sized and smaller), express yachts, sport fishers, LRC’s (long range cruisers or trawlers), large center console boats and large sailing yachts. I offer intelligent, hands-on advice along with expert guidance; which I am glad to share for the benefit of my clients.

Credentials

I diligently maintain a (CPYB) Certified Professional Yacht Broker status. This is a widely used program which is the new industry standard – which few qualify for. Comparable to other professional certifications, a CPYB is required to possess and maintain excellent working knowledge of domestic and international maritime law, transaction issues, yacht knowledge and sublime ethic issues in order to become certified. I also am a long time member of the IYBA (International Yacht Brokers Association) and hold a Yacht Broker’s License with the State of Florida – assuring yacht buyers and yacht sellers that they are in reliable, professional hands! Note a flawless record of many transactions!
