2006 Viking 57' (17.50 m) 56 Convertible
Stuart, Florida, United States
LINEBACKER
A Legendary Offshore Platform — Thoughtfully Adapted for Family Cruising The Viking 56 Convertible represents a particularly appealing chapter in Viking’s sportfishing evolution: a serious, deep-water fishing machine with the beam, interior volume and amenities to serve as a comfortable family cruising yacht. LINEBACKER was built on a proven Viking pedigree hull design with best-in-class engineering, structural integrity and refined joinery. The 56 earned its following by combining offshore capability with the accommodations and practical systems expected of a premium convertible. LINEBACKER stands out for the unusually low hours on her twin 1,550-horsepower MAN common-rail diesels—approximately 1,600 hours—and for the excellent condition of her original exterior gelcoat and interior woodwork. The exterior is excellent, with no crazing and no paint needed; the interior wood shows very little milky finish. Minor spots can be seen in non-obvious locations. These are important distinctions for knowledgeable Viking buyers and can be confirmed during inspection. Equally compelling is her thoughtful balance of fishing readiness and owner-operator, family style comfort. A cockpit sunshade, semi-spiral staircase from the cockpit to the flybridge, Optional Island Queen VIP stateroom, extended West Coast-style bow rail, bow thruster and hydraulic foredeck davit help make this a practical yacht for fishing days, family passages and extended cruising. (The dinghy is expressly excluded from the sale.) Her cockpit also offers the space and layout hard core anglers have come to expect with a wide array of fishing features including a macerated fishbox, transom livewell, outriggers, bait freezer and 8 rod rocket launcher, complemented by three Simrad multifunction helm displays.

WALKTHROUGH
Cockpit | Serious Fishing Utility, Cruising Comfort
The cockpit is the heart of any Viking convertible, and LINEBACKER brings a useful blend of tournament-style fishing equipment and family cruising practicality. Notable features include an in-deck macerated fishbox for managing the catch, a transom livewell, Bait freezer, tackle storage drawers and an 8 rod cockpit rocket launcher. A cockpit sunshade provides relief from the sun, while the custom semi-spiral staircase to the flybridge is a distinctive access improvement over a conventional ladder. Thanks to her prop pockets, her 4’10” factory reported draft allows you to get into places larger boats can’t.
Flybridge | Command and Visibility
The elevated bridge is designed to give the operator broad sightlines for maneuvering, navigation and fishing activity. At the helm, there are three Simrad multifunction displays with chartplotting, radar and depth-sounding capabilities. LINEBACKER has a Palm Beach pod style helm and single lever electronic controls and a bow thruster for maximum maneuverability. The custom staircase is a particularly practical modification for family members and guests moving between bridge and cockpit. The seating up on the bridge is best in class for space and comfort.
Foredeck | Practical Access and Tender Capability
The extended West Coast-style bow rail continues farther aft toward the cockpit than a conventional bow rail, offering additional handhold continuity when moving along the side decks. A hydraulic davit provides the ability to handle a suitable tender on the foredeck. No dinghy is included in this offering.
Salon and Galley | Premium Viking Joinery
Viking’s reputation for premium joinery and functional interior planning is central to the appeal of this generation. This yacht retains exceptionally attractive interior woodwork with almost no milky or clouded finish—an especially meaningful cosmetic distinction among vessels of similar vintage. The historical model’s open salon, galley and dinette arrangement gives the 56 the welcoming atmosphere of a larger cruising yacht.
Accommodations | Three Staterooms
A key strength of the 56 is her generous three-stateroom layout, which supports family cruising while providing privacy for owners and guests. The optional Island queen VIP stateroom forward lends itself especially well for another cruising couple in lieu of offset bunk style beds. The master state room is port side mid ship with a private head. Across the hall to stbd is the third guest stateroom with over under criss cross berths. The lower berth is athwartships and is a double and the upper berth is a single. This room is perfect for crew, multiple fishing buddies or kids.
Engine Room | MAN Power and Viking Engineering
Optional Twin 1,550 HP MAN common-rail diesels provide the substantial power associated with this high-performance sportfishing platform. She is capable of an approximate 30 Knot cruising speed. The space allotted by Viking engineering lends itself well towards serviceability.
WHY THIS VIKING 56
A proven offshore battle wagon Viking with the volume and creature comforts of a versatile cruising yacht, LINEBACKER is an attractive alternative offering the best of all worlds. Her cosmetic condition and low MAN hours make her the most attractive mid-size classic Viking value on the market. The custom staircase, extended bow rail, sunshade, davit and bow thruster underscore the owner’s practical approach: maintain the fishing DNA while making the yacht easier and more enjoyable to use with family and guests. Yes, you can have it all. LINEBACKER is the best of all worlds!
