"MERCATOR" is the last of Burger's proud line of 63' Aluminum Cruisers built throughout the 70's. She has a flying bridge equipped with a duplicate set of steering and engine controls similar to those installed in the pilot house, VIP guest stateroom, full beam master stateroom aft with additional cabin forward. This cabin is suitable for crew as well as extended family or guests. The lounge, stairwell, pilothouse and aft passageway are done in specially selected Korina wood, and all exterior wood trim is varnished Teak.
She's powered by a pair of Caterpillar D3406 turbocharged / aftercooled diesel engines which cruise her around 15knots with top speed approaching 20knots.She offers a stable ride thanks to the well designed S&S hull form and twin sets of Gyro-Gale Stabilizers.
Designed by Sparkman & Stephens she is remarkably well engineered and built to the highest standards by Burger Yachts. She remains today a very capable and seaworthy classic motor yacht that presently is in full operational condition and ready to cruise near or far.
It is obvious that her current loving owners and those that came before them have taken exceptional care of "MERCATOR". She's quite unique in that she has been kept virtually original other than systems updates and improvements. The yacht truly glistens with her 2010 Awl Grip paint and "Bristol" brightwork. Don't miss this opportunity to own an elegant classic Burger, a true American classic!
Boarding via included gangway to side decks and entering through the heavy clear Lexan wing doors delivers one to the pilot house and bridge deck salon. The helm is forward on this deck and has seating for the skipper and companions, lots of instrument mounting surfaces as well as overhead. Here there is a ladder up to the flybridge with second helm station and boat deck w/ tender.
Down several steps to the starboard side of the helm lies the formal saloon, lined on each side with large windows. Here there is a study/desk area with book shelves and storage, perfect for todays home office - remote executives. A comfortable sofa with large leafing coffee/dining table, club chairs, tables and lamps and a buffet forward with storage and a TV. This is a cozy space after dinner to settle in for the evening.
