Whether you planning on buying or selling a yacht, the reputation of the yacht brokerage you choose to work with is vital to the success of your transaction. At AK Yachts, a satisfied customer is our highest priority, which is evident from these yacht broker testimonials below, submitted by happy customers across the globe.
We would like to highly recommend Andy Kniffin and AK Yachts Sales.
We have known Andy since 2002. He was our broker when we sold our second boat a 52′ Highstar and then helped us design, build and order our third yacht a 66′ Symbol.
Andy was there every step of the way through the ordering process and commissioning. After taking possession in 2004, he was always available to answer our numerous questions. During our eleven years of owning the Symbol, he steered us to various marine services from titling and registration, to standard maintenance, to dockage. Because of his vast knowledge of boat services in the area, he could always recommend the right people.
Last year when we were ready to sell our boat, we entrusted it to AK Yachts. Because the boat was docked behind our house during the sales process, we were expecting it to be a hassle. Andy made the process easy for us. He made sure we were informed before each showing and took every precaution to preserve our privacy. When we received an acceptable offer he walked us through the sales process and paperwork.
We consider Andy a trusted friend and have every confidence in recommending him as your full service yacht broker.

“I had been searching for a used fly bridge, sport cruiser in the 65′ to 75′ range in LOA for over 2 years when I received a “Cold Call” from yacht broker, Andy Kniffin. Since I’m not an individual who personally does well with such types of contact, I didn’t expect that our conversation would go far. Additionally, as I recall, I was alpine skiing at the time. I immediately discovered though that Andy was quite professional and polite in his approach during this initial contact which impressed me. I believe that we only spoke for several minutes but after I provided Andy with my description of what type of vessel that I might be interested in purchasing he promptly forwarded me several listings or links to listings for my review, (most of which Andy was not the listing agent) all of which were located in the South Florida Region. I believe that I reviewed about 8 motor yacht listings for sale with Andy.
I then flew to Florida from my New England home and actually completed walk through inspections with Andy of about 5 of them. I became finally quite interested in possibly bidding on one or the other of just two of the yachts inspected. I met with Andy for lunch at the “Downtowner” of 1926 fame, on the New River exactly where Fort Lauderdale was established I believe in 1906.
Explaining to Andy my interest in the two particular vessels, he proceeded to make it clear and therefore convinced me that the one yacht manufacturer was actually quite “Proprietary” and that as a result may prove to me in future to be prohibitively expensive and inconvenient respecting repairs and retrofits, etc. I decided subsequently to bid on my 2002 Sunseeker Manhattan 74 which was accepted. Andy assisted in a detailed and professional manner in my financial closing of this transaction to my acquiring ownership of my yacht.
This transaction closing date of April 8, 2015 was over 4 months ago as I write this my testimonial on Andy’s behalf. Since I have my own innate suspicion of sales staff in general, I am even more impressed with Andy’s follow-up interest and assistance in guiding me: To yacht repair contractors and part suppliers; To my yacht’s insurance agency; And to my vessel’s surveyors (actually contracted prior to my purchase’s closing), etc.
I have no need to list Andy’s many personal qualifications, such as, as a boat captain, a “Certified Yacht Broker,” and member of the trade associations of CPYB and FYBA, etc. since he has these thoroughly documented within his C.V. of his company’s website. I will definitely employ Andy again in future respecting my yacht purchases or sales. I’ll close my tediously long testimonial here stating that I am more than pleased to offer Andy my personal endorsement respecting his yacht brokering skills, etc. To any new or used, yacht buyer or seller, I can attest to Andy Kniffin’s exceptional integrity, professionalism, legal astuteness, meticulousness, and promptness – all required attributes of a first class yacht broker in my view. And finally, I consider Andy my friend!”
“I am very pleased to write up this testimonial for Andy Kniffin of AK Yachts in Florida, USA. I live in Singapore and I only came to know Andy from his company website whilst I was searching for a boat to purchase. After getting in contact with him, I had been talking to him for more than a year before making the purchase of the boat which we love very much through him.
I find Andy a very patient and understanding yacht broker who listens and tried his utmost effort to find you a boat which meets your requirements. He listened to our requirements and have recommended a few boats to us for our review.
Andy has also shown an unwavering dedication in his work and service and had always executed his tasks and duties with sobering promptness and efficiency. I have also find him hardworking, perfectly conscientious, trustworthy and willing to offer his time, help and assistance more than what is required of a yacht broker. Even several months after we have purchased the boat, Andy is still in constant contact with us checking how we are going with the boat and have offered his assistance to us in case of any need.
We are very pleased with all the service and assistance rendered to us on the purchase of the 74′ Halverson motor yacht (which we love!) and I would not hesitate to recommend Andy Kniffin to any other potential boat buyers as I am sure you will be very pleased with his service.”

“We first contacted Andy Kniffin in November 2013 about a Symbol Motoryacht he had listed and we were impressed with his knowledge for the brand. He had sold the boat we called on, so we engaged him to find us the boat which best fit our needs. We have owned a number of boats and worked with a number of boat brokers over the past forty years, but I have never experienced a boat broker that was more knowledgeable, diligent, and helpful than Andy. He found our perfect match of a 58′ Symbol in January 2015 and it was worth the wait. Although this made us a two boat owner, we were confident in Andy’s ability and he sold our former boat within a couple of months. We would highly recommend Andy without reservation to anyone.”

“With respect to the service you provided and still provides, mere words cannot fully express the deep sense of gratitude on my part for “the exemplary performance of AK Yachts and its C.E.O. ANDY KNIFFIN in representing me as my broker in the purchase of S/Y “ISLAND DANCER” . The special, friendly and professional service made for very calm waters in the transaction. I will always entrust, with confidence, my yachting requirements to AK Yachts. Thank you, Andy!”

“I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I appreciated the way you handled the sale of my boat. As you know this is the second time you sold a boat for me and each time you showed great professionalism, always honest and upfront with what you thought the boat needed done to it, helping with the right person to do it. As a result I can sleep well knowing it was a win-win situation for the buyer as well as myself.”
With much appreciation,
“My experience with Andy has been one of exceptional service with attention to every detail and cost involved. Andy negotiated for me extremely well never concerned about his commission only wanting to get the best price for me on my boat. He spent a great deal of personal time getting the boat ready for delivery to me and took personal pride in making sure all was OK and ready for me. I would buy a boat again from Andy in an instant and with him, you don’t get a broker; you make a friend that you can rely on.”

“We purchased a 58′ Symbol motor yacht last January. That was our first big boat and we were very apprehensive about the purchase. We answered one of Andy’s ads for one of the used Symbols he was representing. He was extremely helpful in educating us as to what we should be aware of and the pluses and minuses of each boat.
When we finally made the offer and the deal closed, usually that is the end of the salesman’s involvement. In Andy’s case, he was and continues to be there for us with any questions or problems that we have encountered. In fact just the other day he chose to come with us when we had an unknown problem that required the Caterpillar mechanic to do a Sea Trial.
We highly recommend Andy Kniffin, not only as a helpful salesperson, but for all his knowledge, expertise and willingness to be there when you need him.”

“I had the pleasure to work with Andy Kniffin last spring to purchase “Bermuda” 80′ Symbol motor yacht. My experience with Andy was very pleasing. I have worked with many brokers over the years and would put Andy at the top of the list. My next purchase I will hire Andy for his services.”

“Hi! My name is Jim Rich from Marco Island, Florida. As the owner of 8 boats over the past 13 years, I offered to write this letter to help fellow boaters decide whether or not to use a broker when purchasing a boat. Like many of you, I was always skeptical of boat brokers much like used car salesmen, and for that reason either seemed to pay too much for new boats or negotiated the best I could for used. Three years ago that all changed. When trading a 3 year old 53′ Navigator for a 58′ Symbol pilot house, I met Andy Kniffin, head salesman for Symbol Yachts in Ft Lauderdale. This was the first time I had ever traded a boat vs selling it outright, and Andy made sure the timing was such that our sales taxes were minimized and the new boat was delivered to us in perfect condition.
Last year we once again decided to change boats, so we immediately thought about Andy again. This time we were looking for a 52′ “Cruisers” express cruiser. Unfortunately, this was a new model, there were no used boats available, and all the dealers I spoke with were asking full list price. This is where a good yacht broker like Andy is invaluable! Andy has been selling boats for several years, has a wonderful reputation and rapport with his peers, and knows what kind of mark-ups are generally made with different manufacturers. For this reason, he was able to negotiate a price on a new boat which was almost $200,000 less than the best price I was able to obtain! Furthermore, Andy recommended the best surveyor I have ever had, and made sure every problem was corrected before we took possession of the boat.
For the next several months, Andy kept following up with us just to make sure we were completely satisfied with everything. Now as much as I would like to think that the reason I received such great service is because I’m so special, the reality is: Andy Kniffin is special! He is a hard working professional and ethical individual, who’s goal is to have a satisfied and long term customer relationship. He has certainly proven himself to me, and I have no doubt would do the same for you!”

“Now that the sale of “Sea Prompt” IV 64 Symbol motor yacht has concluded I want to take a moment to thank you for all your efforts. Your dedication to me as your client, skillful advertising and promotion for maximum exposure, and your knowledge and experience in yachts were a great combination to generate a successful sale. In a business with so much inexperience and questionable behavior, it really was a pleasure to have your professional attention.”

“I really appreciate the way that you handled the sale of our boat the “Cruzan Lady”. You always kept us informed and we felt like you worked really hard to not only show the boat to prospective buyers, but to assist us with maintenance, dockage and other issues at a reasonable cost. We look forward to buying a boat through you as soon as our Bahamas project is complete.”
